can it be...that i am ACTUALLY updating??
(this is for you, Katie!!)
so, i'm down to 1 week of school and then finals...and then that's it! i can't believe it! another year come and gone!
anyways...here's some pictures! (sadly my camera got smashed and had to be mailed back to taiwan to get fixed, so it's still in recovery now...)
for easter break, i went home w/ one of my good friends, Caroline Brown, and she lives on a cotton plantation. her house was built in 1827 (i think) and has been in her family for 7 generations! i'm still shocked! they still have all the original cotton jin, tenant houses, feeding troths, and barns! it's crazy!

i didn't even know how cotton grew till i saw it in her house!

Caroline's dad took us down to the river on a tractor & wagon (it was the 5 of us and all of her family! hahha)

we played some croquet...

the whole gang...(ryan, judy, thad, me, caroline, felice, caroline's sister easley, and her cousin billy)

THEN...THAT NEXT WEEKEND...I WENT FROM NORTH CAROLINA AND FLEW ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA!!
the main reason i went was for a conference (which the school paid for -- the flight, the hotel, the meals...everything!)

there were flowers there that were definitely on steroids! they were gorgeous!
but the highlight was definitely getting to meet up with these crazy kids! for a few short hours!

now let me clarify...i could have had a whole 1 1/2 more hours with them if they hadn't left me waiting for them that long in the hotel lobby! some friends! i fly all the way to CA and they still make me wait for them! hahaha (i couldn't resist lester!!)

funny story...this old man offered to take this picture for us and i don't think i've seen someone as shaky as he was. i thought for sure this picture was going to be SUPER BLURRY...but it turned out wonderfully! we were all trying so hard not to laugh! ok, i guess you had to be there...it's not really that funny to tell.

then we met up with teri tan...ate dinner, hung out at coffee bean (and saw this guy that looked EXACTLY like bickel -- but there was no way to get a picture of him...believe me, we tried!)
it was such an INCREDIBLE blessing to get together with these dear old friends again! talk about 2 worlds colliding! i went from coast to coast then back to school in the matter of 1 week! and saw friends from across the world! what a whirlwind!
so...in 2 weeks, i will be packed up and heading out to NJ to live with my cousin ashley and her family for a month until my family joins me and we set out on the open road! i can't wait to see them again! gosh, i miss my fam so!
take care all...and congrats for those of you who are already enjoying the beginning days of summer...and jia yo for those who are facing finals! |
